The operator 'is equal' finds also altitudes between a range of values, e.g.: 'is equal' '820' finds records 500-1000 m as well as 820 m.

To search for names use either the last name, the first name or both names. The sequence is last name, first name and the delimiter is comma (,). E. g.: collector 'starts with' 'naumann', ',clas' or 'naumann, clas' will find C. M. Naumann.

... contains the coordinates of a collecting locality. The original geographical coordinates have been converted into the decimal format to enable linking to Open Street Map.

Whereas the detection method is equal will find an exact date, the detection method contains will also find dates within a period. E. g. contains 1973-07-27 will find the period mentioned above. Additional detection methods are is before and is after.
... contains the number of a collecting locality. The numbers originally used in the card file are composed of one or two letters for the country and one to four ciphers.
In this database the ciphers have been padded left with zero (0) to get an equal length of four. To search for numbers please enter this pre-zero, e. g. instead of X 37 always X0037.
